Essential Facts About Ontario Circumcision

By Gary Walker

Circumcision is a surgical process that many people around the world undergo at different ages of their lives. It involves the removal of the foreskin of the penis. This is the skin that covers the tip of the penis, and once it is removed, the glans remains exposed. According to research, this practice is very common in the United States, Middle East, and Africa. Europeans do not exercise circumcision that commonly. This is worth knowing about Ontario Circumcision.

People circumcise for different reasons. Among those who practice Judaism, male newborns must be circumcised as part of observing their religious practices. Islam also requires that all sons to Muslim parents be circumcised. Besides religion, there are many other reasons why people undergo this process, including personal choice, aesthetic preference, and treatment of certain medical conditions.

Some of the conditions that include circumcision as a treatment option include balanoposthitis, phimos and paraphimosis. A medical condition causing inflammation at the tip of the penis is referred to as Balanitis. A number of reasons are known to cause the inflammation. Besides this, it causes swelling in the foreskin and tip of penis. A condition where one has a retracted foreskin that does not return to its usual position is called paraphimosis.

It is important to understand that there is no medical reason that may make it necessary to circumcise a newborn baby. The reasons why people do so are not medical in nature at all. Many fathers around the world also prefer having their sons circumcised so that they can look like them. As such, it is more of a ritual that is passed down from one generation to another.

Circumcision is possible on newborns as it is often a minor surgery. There are very many medical practitioners who are trained and qualified in circumcision. They include gynecologists, pediatricians, and obstetricians. Prior to beginning the surgery, parents are required to sign a form of consent to give the doctor the permission to circumcise their newborn sons.

Older children and adults are usually circumcised inside hospitals or surgery centers. The individual will be attended to as an outpatient. Usually, one does not need to be admitted after the process unless something unexpected happens since this is classified as a minor surgery. Like other surgical procedures, proper consent is needed before the process can be done.

Newborns that have just been circumcised are usually fussy. However, parents are provided with instructions on how to minimize discomfort. In newborns, it takes between 7 to 10 days for them to heal completely. The penis of newborns usually appears red and bruised before healing. The parent is advised to change the bandage every time they change the diaper of the baby.

For adults, the doctor usually provides instructions on how to take care of the incision and minimize pain. Healing takes longer in adults and the process is slightly more painful too. Usually a local anesthesia is administered during the surgery. One is advised to avoid strenuous activities like weight lifting and jogging during the first four weeks.
