Fashion Dolls: Who's Fashion Is This?

By Terri Lynn

Before I start, I need to confess to you that I am not a doll expert. Not really. But I have learned quite a lot about dolls over the past year and can share my new found wisdom with others, especially dads. See, I'm a dad of two daughters. I have lots experience with dolls. But, that's not why I know so much. It's because I started this doll website because it's a good niche for marketing. So, I research all kinds of dolls and have actually become quite knowledgeable in the area and can help some of you out.

This is how my opinion came about. Because of my site, I regularly have to write articles about specific dolls. The way I do it is to research the doll, write an article about them, and them turn that page into a section of my doll store. Well, today I researched Monster High Dolls. I was shocked when I saw them. First, they reminded my of Bratz Dolls which look like little street walkers, to me. Secondly, they also reminded me of how young girls use Halloween as an excuse to dress slutty. Have you noticed that they many don't really dress scary or funny looking. They dress like sexy kittens or hot vampires.

You know, I don't have a problem with fashion dolls as a whole. In fact, these types of dolls can be great. Barbie dolls are fashion dolls. And, while some people have an issue with the bodies of these kinds of dolls, at least they have some taste and class. Some of these newer fashion dolls are making these girls look like something very unnatural and definitely not a way that dads would approve.

If you've ever seen a Bratz Doll or similar knock off, you'll see that they look like little prostitutes. Imagine taking eleven to twelve year girls, caking them with heavy makeup to accent their large eyes and putting them in short skirts and high heels, you'll get the picture. If it were my daughter, I'd pull her out of school and send her to a convent. I'm exaggerating, but you get the point.

Parents, why are you buying these things for your little girls? Do you want them to emulate this look in any way? I doubt it. So, why are you doing it? If you stop, then the manufacturers will stop making them. Seriously, it's that simple. Just say no to the doll.
