Generally, the process of preventing or blocking sperms from mixing with the rest of semen compounds by tying the ducts is what is referred to as vasectomy. It is a procedure that does not interfere with formation and composition of semen but deals with making sure that this fluid cannot cause fertilization after ejaculation. On the other hand, sperm production goes on normally and they are absorbed into the body. Nevertheless, reverse vasectomy is a process of taking back the person to the initial fertility state.

Usually, vasectomy reversal is a procedure that reconnects sperm ducts to allow the sperms to reach the semen. Usually, the vas ends are reattached. In other cases, the vas ends are joined with the epididymis. The surgical procedure is performed under a specialized microscope. Once the tubes are rejoined, sperm flows again through the urethra. Usually, there are various reasons the reversal procedure. For instance, you might marry again after a breakup or change of mind. Also, you can undo the procedure if you want to have a family after losing your spouse.

The decision of getting the procedure done is contributed by various reasons. Such reasons are like marrying a second wife, after break up, changing of mind, addition of a child need and so on. It is an outpatient activity mostly. However, the patients are subjected to general anesthetics in order to induce calmness and pain removal. This process sometimes does not bring fertility and may not yield fruits. In fact, if the patient has lived in that state for a long time, chances of success are limited.

The reverse procedure takes between 2 to 4 hours and additional several hours to recover from the anesthetic. However, mild to moderate pain may be felt, and you can resume normal activities within weeks including sex. In the reverse procedure is performed with the first 10 years, it is usually more successful.

However, this procedure is risky on its own way. The risks mostly affect the surgical areas. The scrotum may also accumulate fluids and this means drainage needs to be done. The blood vessels in the area may also be affected or damaged as well as the scrotum.

It is also a risky activity. General surgery risks and side effects can occur. Others include scarring, scrotum infections, and fluids accumulation. Damages may occur on the tissues, scrotum and blood vessels around the surgical area.

Consultations from the doctor are important as the doctor will be able to conduct tests on fertility ability as well as checking whether semen has antibodies that can affect sperms functionality. It is less complicated and side effects associated with it are minor like little bruises, pain, and swelling. When conducted properly, urinary activities and potency should remain unaffected.

Since this is an important procedure to become fertile again, you need to look for a good surgeon with experience. For this reason, you should look for a surgeon who performs reversals regularly and one who has special training in the area of male infertility. You should also seek to know the success rate of the procedure the surgeon has performed.
