What Everyone Needs To Know About Water Birth New Jersey

By Christopher Nelson

Probably the most instinctive and natural act that women are designed to do is to bring a beautiful baby into this world. When preparing for childbirth, in the early stages of pregnancy it is highly recommended to consider the variety of methods that are being practiced nowadays. One of these choices is Water Birth New Jersey. Water birth is a method whereby the mother gives birth in a tub of warm or lukewarm water.

Medical practitioners have perspectives that are a tad controversial when it comes to this method of delivery. The fact however remains that there have been successes in delivery of children through this method who had received prior warning from the doctors that the only way they could have a child was through caesarian section. Today, more specialists are beginning to embrace and acknowledge the process even though it still remains a contentious issue. Though many women are thinking of delivery at home or hydro delivery at a clinic, they are being recommended that the traditional hospital birth is still the safest choice.

Because there is no fight against gravity, giving delivery in hydro results in smoother contractions and hence the opportunity to conserve one's energy. It is easier for mothers to find a comfortable position during labour and relieves the pressure on the abdomen.

Babies are only at risk of inhaling hydro if their head is brought to the hydro's surface before the rest of their body leaves the delivery canal. This action could override their dive reflex causing problems if their face is then plunged into the hydro again. A midwife will make sure this doesn't happen. They will also monitor the baby throughout the delivery to ensure at no time is the oxygen supply to the placenta affected by the hydro delivery.

The baby will not drown because it will only start breathing once it is lifted out of the hydro. The umbilical cord continues to provide oxygen after the delivery. Just like giving delivery using traditional methods, hydro deliveries must always be done under the supervision of a licensed health care professional. There are safe times to enter and exit the hydro and points to be considered, and these should be understood and explained fully before your hydro delivery.

Arguments Against It- Though the option sounds tempting, some shortcomings need to be considered before a final decision is taken. Hydro delivery is connected to some risks and complications. These occur infrequently but the chances of something going wrong exist. It can be connected to hydro-embolism - hydro getting into the baby's bloodstream. Because of this threat, many medics ask the mom-to-be to get out of the bathtub or pool immediately before delivery takes place.

Hydro delivery can also be done in the comfort of your own home. If you'll choose this option, you'll need to purchase your own child delivery pool or rent one. Always consult your midwife to make sure you're making the right decision.

If you are considering a hydro delivery, you will have to examine the option carefully. Many hospitals already offer it alongside traditional delivery methods. Study the experience of the team, as well as the equipment available. Follow your instincts but do your best to make an informed decision.
