How To Find The Right Hoboken Daycare Center

By Joanna Walsh

The age between one and five years old is an important stage in human growth and development. This is the stage when children begin moving around and exploring things, but are not old enough to attend formal elementary schools. Children at this stage of life require extra care from their parents or legal guardians. However, you may not be able to devote much time to care for your child due to other pressing responsibilities such as work. Fortunately, you can take your child to a daycare center where he or she will be taken care of well.

Childcare centers offer early learning programs to preschool children. A good Hoboken daycare center can take good care of children when the parents are unable to monitor them due to work and other commitments. Daycare centers have a great learning and fun environment that helps prepare children for formal elementary education.

As they search for a center that offers child care services in Hoboken, New Jersey, parents may be worried that their children will not receive the same level of love, attention and care they receive at home. They may also worry about the safety of the toys and resting areas in a childcare center. As they choose such a facility, parents should consider a number of things in order to find the right center.

One of the things to consider is if the general atmosphere in a childcare center is nurturing, welcoming and friendly. You can ask various childcare centers to give you the names and phone numbers of their former clients. You can then call these parents to inquire if they can recommend the centers to other parents. Alternatively, you may visit some childcare centers during the pickup hours and speak with some parents to know more about the quality of services offered at the centers.

It is also essential for a center to be flexible. Find out if you it can let you drop off and pick up your child at different times. However, the center should also have established rules for operating hours and handling emergencies among other things. It should also be able to provide you with a written copy of its established polices. This way, you will know that it takes its responsibilities and your child seriously.

Parents should also consider if the curriculum of a daycare center is stimulating for children. Good centers have structured schedules that include adequate time for physical activity, group programs, meals, quiet time, free time and personal activities. Videos should not play a big role in what children learn all day. If video lessons are included in the curriculum, they should be educational and age appropriate.

A good daycare center will also have qualified and caring staff. Trained staff is one advantage that centers usually have over home childcare providers and nannies, who may not have specialized education. The employees of a childcare center should have a background in childhood development, at least a two year degree and CPR training.

Parents should also consider if the staff interacts with children well. The staff should be well prepared, responsible and enthusiastic. The ratio of children and staff members should also be good so that every child can get the attention he or she deserves. The other thing to consider is whether a childcare center is clean and has a spacious indoor or outdoor play area.
