Baby Bedroom Sets

By Darren Hartley

Baby bedroom sets consist of the crib and several other pieces of furniture. Changing tables are one of these other pieces of furniture. Drawers and shelves, bassinets, rocking chairs and cradles are others. This actually scratches only the surface of the baby equipment required in the baby's room.

What component of baby bedroom sets has the function of providing a safe place to diaper and dress a baby up? Why, a changing table, of course. It usually has a long, slender, padded area for changing and an area of open shelves underneath for storage.

Drawers and shelves are next on our list of furniture pieces comprising baby bedroom sets. Buying a new baby chest requires looking at its workmanship inside and out. Investing in a high-quality chest to use for each infant may be warranted for a couple planning to have a large family.

Bassinets are elements of baby bedroom sets that must be stable and not shaky. They must not have sharp edges. They must not have hinges or clips that could catch the fingers of the baby. They must not have sharp or rough areas that can scratch the sensitive skin of the baby.

The drawback to the use of rocking chairs as part of baby bedroom sets is the probability of a baby getting caught in its frame and getting hit on the head should he push it, as he begins to crawl around the nursery. Another potential hazard would be the baby putting his fingers under the rocker while it is on the move.

The last on our pieces included in baby bedroom sets are cradles. A word of caution must be said of cradles. Cradles are commonly suspended by means of hooks, which sometimes stick out and can injure a baby as it is put in or taken out of the cradle. Therefore, make sure the hooks of the cradle are never protruding.
