Any big furniture that are at risk of falling on the children should be secured on the wall. For instance, wall mirrors and bookshelves. If you have stairs, there should be a gate at the top and bottom of the stairway, so that small kids don't fall down the stairs. Fix any sockets that are not in good condition and ensure that electrical cords have been properly set up, so that they do not trip someone.

If you have any pets, make sure that their vaccinations are up to date. They will want to see the vaccination records of the pets. In addition, children should be instructed on how to play with the pets, to minimize chances of pets attacking them. Swimming pools should be covered. Children should not be able to access adult sites or materials, if there are any in the house. Guns should also be securely locked and stored separately from the ammunition.

Get everyone living in the house prepared for the interview, as the social worker will speak to them when they come for the house inspection.
